Current research in his lab is focused on the following projects:

Metabolism of proline in the plant cell response to either biotic and abiotic stress conditions
Screening of new active principles for weed control targeting key enzymes in amino acid biosynthesis
Aromatic biosynthesis in the interaction rice-Magnaporthe grisea
Use of microalgae, mainly cyanobacteria, for bioremediation purposes
