The aim of my research is to understand the evolution of behaviour and of the endocrine and neural mechanisms that control it. Natural and sexual selection favour behaviours that increase survival and reproductive success, and variation in behaviour is related to variation in its physiological control mechanisms. My work bridges behavioural ecology and physiology and addresses at the same time the proximate and ultimate causes of behaviour. |
