Italian Courses L2 for foreign Students

INFORMATION

The University of Ferrara Language Centre offers Italian language courses as a preparation to University lectures, for the first term (October-December) and second term (February-March/April).

Admission is available for:

  • Students participating in Mobility Programs (e.g. Erasmus/Socrates);
  • Foreign students already enrolled in ordinary undergraduate courses, or postgraduate Masters or Doctorate courses;
  • Foreign visitors to the University of Ferrara.

COURSES SCHEDULE AND ORGANIZATION

Courses are divided into five levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1), according to the parameters set down by the Common European Framework of Reference. Courses will be held from Mondays to Fridays, between 8.30 and 19.00.

  • Level A1 - A2 - B1 - B2 - C1 (50 hours)
    40 hours of group lessons with a lecturer and 10 hours of self study.

ENROLMENT AND ENTRY TEST

To be admitted to the italian language course applicants must:

  1. fill in the admission formby no later than the deadline September 15, 2017 (early enrollment is higly recommended, since the date of enrollment will be among the criteria for admission).
  2. Sit a written entry test on September 26, 27, 28, 2017 and an oral examination.
Upon their arrival, to complete admission, students must contact the Secretary of the Language Centre CLA (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo) (office opening hours) at the following address: Via Scienze, 41/b - Ferrara, tel. 0532 293446, e-mail: segreteria.cla@unife.it. Students eligible for admission will be informed about the method of payment of fees. They will then be assigned a personal ID code, which will give access to the entry test.

Students will be grouped according to the score awarded after the entry test; each class will not be more than twenty.
Names of students in the various groups, together with the course timetable, lecturers, and lecture theatre, will be given by the University Language Centre Admissions Office and on its web site.
Admission will not be possible for students whose forms arrive late. Admissions will be closed when the maximum number of students is reached. Applicants who fail to sit the entry test and/or oral examination will be automatically excluded. N.B. dates for the entry test cannot be changed; if a student has a good reason for not sitting the entry test, they should give advance notice to the Admissions Office.

In case of withdrawal from the course, admission fee will not be refunded.

CERTIFICATION

At the end of the course students will receive an attendance certificate and a certificate of proficiency. To receive the attendance certificate, students must attend no less than 70% of the course total; to receive the certificate of proficiency, students must attend no less than 70% of the total number of hours and pass the written and oral examinations at the end of the course. The certificate of proficiency entitles students on academic mobility programmes to 5 ECTS credits.
