Architectures/protocols/design techniques and methodologies for on-chip communication in parallel computer architectures, especially in the embedded computing domain

Short description of the research team

Thematic fields of interest/research areas: architectures/protocols/design techniques and methodologies for on-chip communication in parallel computer architectures, especially in the embedded computing domain. The key expertise of the group is on on-chip interconnection networks (networks-on-chip, NoCs), with recent emphasis shifting toward implementation of the networking paradigm with emerging technologies. Especially, optical networks-on-chip are investigated, in terms of architecture design space exploration, topology synthesis, CAD tools for optical network design.

Manager/head of the team: Davide Bertozzi

Team members: Luca Ramini, Marco Balboni, Miorandi Gabriele, Ghiribaldi Alberto, Hervé Fankem Tatenguem

Research infrastructures: CAD tools for the synthesis of digital integrated circuits, access to nanometer industrial technologies, environment for behavioural as well as RTL-equivalent system and device simulation, one of largest evaluation boards for virtex-7 FPGA, real hardware prototype of multicore programmable accelerators for the high-end embedded computing domain.
